One caution: people with autoimmune diseases should only use elderberry products with caution. As they naturally help our body increase cytokines, they could cause harm in some cases and the timing of administration is important. The same is true of most immune-boosting substances. Anyone with autoimmune issues should discuss this with their integrative doctor, or herbalist, before indiscriminately adding elderberry products.
Great reminder. We keep locally sourced and made Elderberry syrup at all times. It grows wild here. Very hardy species. Planning on making my own as well.
I happened to find elderberry trees near our home and made elderberry syrup this year. We ‘ran the experiment’ and took about a tablespoon each week. We’ve had NOTICEABLY few sicknesses this fall and winter and I’m now a 100% believer. I enjoyed the article but would stress that I think it does a better job at actually preventing sickness, try taking it weekly.
I have been taking elderberry for decades, in a variety of forms, the latest being a capsule (600 mg 2x/day). My work involved I visiting patient rooms in hospitals and of course many coughed on me. I used elderberry when I thought I needed it for prophylaxis or when I caught a URI. “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” if you know how your own body usually reacts.
I trust Dr. Zelenko on anything and everything. Not only did he look at medicine in a scientific way, he also was a moral and spiritual person living a kosher life.
Oops- ate them raw last summer, and thoroughly enjoyed!
I don't remember any side effects, but won't do it again this year. I found out government loves to spray this with chemicals to control *pests* and Elderberry could become challenging to find in the future, so I bought my own to learn more. I appreciate this post so much! Thanks for sharing!!
Aloe, lavender, citrus, mint and cardamom are my other current science fair projects to familiarize myself entirely with the essential oils I use when indicated at Island Manual Osteopathic Therapies
Stop The Spray BC or https://stopthespraybc.com/ has many resources, videos. It got my blood boiling because "they" are spraying herbicide for invasive species and wiping out so many species which are KNOWN to be medicinal.
I really think the article is great--but the caution for autoimmune disease should definitely be included. Not everyone will go to see the FLCCC protocol. Also, there are many who may have variations of autoimmune diseases, minor or more severe who are not quite aware that they have it.
I make my own tincture and used some I had stored in the freezer to treat shingles. It worked a treat. If you use it as medicine you just take it as needed so why would you take too much?

Thanks for this one caveat. I was wondering about that.
In the FLCCC protocols, we note: "Patients with autoimmune disease should take for 2 weeks or less and monitor their symptoms closely."
Thank you!
Wow!! You must be a robot ? Perfect answer twice
just a simple copy-paste!
Short term use with autoimmune is fine

Great share! There was quite the buzz Not tonuse elderberry at the start of Covid because of cytokine issues, but I'm not sure how that shook out.
Elderberry and fire cider.
Let food be your medicine ( as much as possible) .
Yes I’ve been wanting to learn how to make fire cider...

Beautiful shrub, you need two varieties to grow for pollination. Contrary to popular belief they are not deer proof until they grow above their heads.
I have seen some warnings about elderberry use for those with autoimmune diseases. Since so many have them these days is this a real concern?
It's my concern, too. One other commenter says those with autoimmune disorders need to beware.

Thank you for posting. Yet again a tried & time tested natural remedy is proven to work.
Needless to say. No Obscene, Demonic, Satanic or Evil profits, to be made by the wicked beyond belief megapharmas.

The late Dr. Zelenko designed a gummy containing elderberry, quercetin, zinc, and vitamins C and D.

Thank you FLCCC for good advice!
I make my own the way you said. "You can also find the berry in freeze-dried form, which allows you to make your own elderberry medicines." EZ
Great post, you don't hear much about it. I've been doing it way before we ever heard of Covid.

Is there some sort of book for this?

What is the recommended dosage in pill form? I’ve seen 500mg pills and 2000 mg.. Thank you in advance!
